Chitwan Police denies allegations of mistreatment against RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: The Chitwan District Police Office has refuted allegations of misconduct towards the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane, detained in a cooperative fraud case.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhesh Raj Rijal dismissed claims that Lamichhane was mistreated, including being woken at night, transferred to Kaski despite ill health, and subjected to inappropriate behavior by intoxicated officers.

Rijal labeled these allegations as baseless and false.

He clarified that Lamichhane’s transfer from Chitwan to Kaski was conducted with full adherence to legal protocols and human rights norms.

Security measures were heightened due to public unrest during his statement at the District Government Attorney’s Office in Chitwan.

After the statement, Lamichhane met his family and well-wishers before being transferred at 12:05 AM on December 5.

The police urged the public to disregard misleading reports circulating on social media.
