SC halts govt’s decision to remove NEA board members

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the government to halt the implementation of its decision to remove Bhakta Bahadur Pun and Kapil Acharya from their positions as Board of Directors of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

On Thursday, SC Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel issued an interim order preventing the government from enforcing the dismissal of Pun and Acharya.

The Court has also requested the government to provide justifications for their removal.

The removal decision was taken at the ministerial level by Minister for Energy, Water Resource, and Irrigation Dipak Khadka on August 2.

Following their dismissal, Devendra Karki and Mahendra Bahadur Gurung were appointed to replace them.
