Foreigner arrested with six kilos of cocaine at TIA

KATHMANDU: A foreign national has been arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) with six kilos and 24 grams of illegal cocaine.

Evras Valters, a Latvian citizen arriving on a Qatar Airways flight, was detained by officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau in the airport’s arrival hall.

The arrest was made on Wednesday, and Valters is currently under investigation following an extension granted by the District Court Kathmandu.

In related incidents, police also apprehended two individuals with brown heroin at the New Bus Park in Gongabu, Kathmandu.

The suspects, 24-year-old Pawan Kumar Mehta from Saptari Rajviraj Municipality-9 and 27-year-old Anil Pariyar from Udaypur Triyuga Municipality-7, were found in possession of 15.5 grams of heroin, 40,000 in cash, and three mobile phones.

Additionally, two more people were arrested in Narephant, Kathmandu, with 640 milligrams of brown heroin and two mobile phones.

The detainees, 33-year-old Dharmendra Singh from Siraha Golbazar Municipality-6 and 33-year-old Anil Sah from Siraha Mirchaiya Municipality-5, were found with the drugs at their camp.
