Two arrested for allegedly setting fire to forest in Okhaldhunga

OKHALDHUNGA: Two individuals have been arrested for allegedly igniting a destructive blaze in the forest in Okhaldhunga district.

They stand accused of setting fire to the Nagarpark of Siddicharan Municipality-11.

According to Police Inspector Balistar Singh of the District Police Office, the arrested individuals are 26-year-old Mahesh BK and 23-year-old Sujan BK, both residents of Siddicharan Municipality-11.

The Okhaldhunga District Court has granted the police a four-day remand period to further investigate the suspects.

Inspector Singh highlighted the surge in forest fires across the district, prompting law enforcement to launch a search operation to apprehend arsonists.
