27 lives lost to fire, wildfire, and lightning strikes in 24 days

KATHMANDU: As many as 27 individuals perished within the span of the last 24 days due to the ravages of fire, wildfire, and lightning strikes.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority reported these fatalities occurring between April 13 and May 6.

Of the grim tally, 18 souls succumbed to fire-related incidents, six to wildfires, and three to the fury of lightning strikes.

Additionally, the Authority noted that 90 individuals sustained injuries during these tragic events.

In response to this devastating toll, the Authority has greenlit procedures to extend financial aid to families of fire victims for the construction of temporary shelters.
