Meeting convened by Speaker Ghimire ends in stalemate as ruling alliance rejects to form parliamentary committee

The NC has been advocating for the establishment of a parliamentary committee to probe the cooperative fraud case.

KATHMANDU: The meeting of four key political parties, convened by Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, has concluded without reaching a consensus.

The meeting was called following the Nepali Congress (NC)’s insistence on establishing a parliamentary probe committee to investigate the alleged involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in a cooperative scam, considering it a ‘non-negotiable’ condition.

Despite the NC’s steadfast stance during the meeting, advocating for the formation of the committee, the ruling alliance remained resolute in their refusal to comply.

This impasse resulted in the meeting ending without achieving an agreement.
