Women’s roles strengthened at all levels: Former President Bhandari

KATHMANDU: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended her wishes for peace, prosperity, and happiness to all sisters and brothers living in the country and abroad on the occasion of the 114th Women’s Day today.

Women’s Day is globally recognized, expressing solidarity with the campaign for women’s rights and gender equality.

This year, the day is observed under the theme, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.’

In her message, the former President reminded that Nepal has achieved remarkable milestones in constitutional, legal, and policy fronts for women’s rights and gender equality.

She argued that these achievements resulted from various awareness campaigns and movements launched for social justice, women’s rights, and gender equality.

The constitution has fundamentally enshrined women’s rights, ensuring their participation and representation at state agencies.

Women’s roles have been strengthened at all three tiers of government, parliament, and policy levels.

She expressed hope that Women’s Day would inspire everyone to continue their journey towards equality by eradicating social ills, violence, and oppression against women.
