Nepal’s paddy production soars to record level

KATHMANDU: Breaking all previous records, Nepal celebrates a remarkable achievement in paddy production during the fiscal year 2080/81 BS, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.

The nation witnessed a production of 5,724,234 metric tons of paddy, marking the highest yield to date.

This remarkable accomplishment comes in contrast to the fiscal year 2077/78, where the paddy production stood at 5,621,710 metric tons.

Notably, the current fiscal year has witnessed a significant 4.97 percent increase in production despite a marginal decrease of 0.61 percent (8800 hectares) in the production area, according to data released by the ministry.

Remarkably, the Koshi Province emerged as the frontrunner in paddy production, recording the highest yield, while the Karnali Province reported the lowest production figures.
