All sluice gates of Gandak Barrage opened

NAWALPUR: Due to rising water levels in the Narayani River, all sluice gates of the Gandak Barrage have been opened.

Located in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-7 of Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Sustapurva), the barrage’s 36 gates were fully opened following the flooding of Binayi Triveni-1 Baguban area.

Kashinath Harijan, the Liaison Officer of Gandak Barrage, confirmed the openings.

The water flow in the Gandak Barrage was measured at 440,750 cusecs at 7:00 am today, prompting this action as the water level continued to rise.

Additionally, the south section of Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Sustapur) under the East-West Highway has been blocked due to fallen trees.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Bahadur Paudel reported that a tree fell near Bishwakarma Temple in Daunne, causing the obstruction.
