Balmandir land scam: NCO’s former Vice President Tulsi Narayan Shrestha arrested



KATHMANDU: Tulsi Narayan Shrestha, former Vice President of the Nepal Children’s Organization (NCO), has been arrested in connection with the Balmandir land scam in Naxal, Kathmandu.

The arrest was made on Friday by a team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police.

Shrestha faces allegations of repeatedly causing financial losses to the NCO and the government by leasing land at undervalued rates from 1992 to 2015.

He is also accused of renewing the lease with malicious intent before the contract, set to expire in 2032, had ended.

Approximately 29 ropanis of land in Naxal were leased out for an annual fee of Rs 10.9 million, according to the latest agreement.

The police have issued arrest warrants for 20 individuals involved in various activities on the property, including Shrestha.

Arrest warrants have also been issued for former President Rita Singh, General Secretary Ganesh Bhakta Shrestha, Deputy General Secretary Suman Shakya, Krishna Shankar Sah, Shyam Kumar Ale, Subas Kumar Pokharel, and Manohar Gopal Shrestha.
