PM Dahal vows to spearhead initiatives to rescue Nepalis nationals serving in Russian army

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has announced his intention to spearhead diplomatic efforts to repatriate Nepali citizens serving in the Russian army.

In a meeting with representatives from the campaign advocating for the safety of Nepali nationals in the Russian Army at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, Prime Minister Dahal assured that he would undertake decisive measures to ensure the safe return of Nepali nationals currently serving in Russia.

“The Prime Minister’s Office is fully committed to meeting your demands,” stated Prime Minister Dahal.

“Continuous diplomatic efforts are underway, including through diplomatic channels,” he added.

Reaffirming the government’s dedication to safeguarding Nepali citizens abroad, Prime Minister Dahal reiterated his commitment to addressing the concerns of families with relatives in the Russian Army.

“We are engaging in high-level diplomatic initiatives, and I personally will put more efforts,” Prime Minister Dahal said.

He also disclosed that he had been in direct communication with Nepali nationals deployed in the conflict zones, emphasizing ongoing discussions through diplomatic channels to monitor their situation.

Families of Nepali nationals serving in the Russian army had staged a sit-in protest in Kathmandu, demanding the repatriation of their loved ones engaged in active duty.

The demonstration was suspended following assurances from Prime Minister Dahal regarding the government’s commitment to address their grievances.
