Nepal clinches SMS Friendship Cup title in India



KATHMANDU: Nepal has emerged victorious in the ongoing SMS Friendship Cup held in India.

In the final match concluded on Sunday, Nepal defeated the team from Gujarat Cricket Association by 18 runs, securing the championship title.

While Nepal set a target of 177 runs, Gujarat managed to score 158 runs, losing eight wickets in 20 overs.

Earlier, Nepal, batting first after winning the toss, had scored 276 runs, losing four wickets in 20 overs.

For Nepal, captain Rohit Paudel scored the highest with 74 runs.

Additionally, Aasif Sheikh contributed 34, Kushal Bhurtel 19, Dipendra Singh Airee 7, Kushal Malla 31, and Sandeep Jora 7 runs.

Similarly, Gujarat’s bowlers Jaymit Patel, Shen Patel, and Tejas Patel took one wicket each.

Along with this victory, Nepal’s cricket team is set to participate in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Premier Cup to be held in Oman from India.
