Buttler’s century powers RR to fourth consecutive victory in IPL thriller against RCB

KATHMANDU: In a thrilling encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured their fourth consecutive victory in the IPL by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a high-scoring match.

Jos Buttler’s scintillating century and Sanju Samson’s explosive innings set the stage on fire as RR chased down RCB’s formidable target of 184 with ease.

Buttler, celebrating his 100th IPL match, showcased his prowess with the bat by smashing an unbeaten 100 runs off just 58 balls.

His partnership with Samson, who scored a quickfire 69 off 42 balls, proved to be the cornerstone of RR’s successful chase. The duo’s remarkable 148-run stand steered RR towards victory, with Buttler sealing the win in style with a six.

Earlier in the match, RCB posted a challenging total of 183/3, courtesy of Virat Kohli’s splendid century. Kohli’s unbeaten 113 off 72 deliveries, supported by Faf du Plessis’ brisk 44, propelled RCB to a competitive score.

Despite an early setback with the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal, RR’s innings gained momentum as Buttler and Samson combined caution with aggression to dominate the RCB bowling attack. Buttler’s half-century came off just 30 balls, while Samson reached his fifty in style off 33 deliveries.

Although RCB managed to break the crucial partnership by dismissing Samson, RR’s victory was never in doubt. Buttler’s composure and Shimron Hetmyer’s cameo ensured RR crossed the finish line with five balls to spare.

With this win, RR’s captain Sanju Samson extended his team’s winning streak in the tournament. The match witnessed some exceptional performances from both sides, making it a memorable contest for cricket fans.

Overall, it was an enthralling display of batting prowess from Buttler, Samson, and Kohli, making the match a must-watch for IPL enthusiasts.
