Fugitive GB Rai arrested in cooperative fraud case



KATHMANDU: GB Rai, the Chairman of Gorkha Media Group and operator of Galaxy TV, has been apprehended by authorities in Singapore.

Rai, who was implicated in a cooperative fraud case, had fled from Nepal to Malaysia before ultimately being located in Singapore.

Sources within the Nepal Police confirmed that Rai was taken into custody prior to the appointment of Rabi Lamichhane as Home Minister.

Plans are underway to repatriate Rai back to Nepal to face legal proceedings.

Earlier, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) had issued diffusion notices against Rai.
