Westerly wind impact: Fog likely in Terai, snowfall in mountains

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has reported the current partial impact of western winds in Nepal.

According to the Division, the weather presently displays clarity in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

In contrast, other regions experience varying degrees of clarity, with some parts of the Terai region witnessing fog.

This afternoon, the forecast suggests predominantly clear weather in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali.

Meanwhile, the rest of the region is expected to be partly cloudy.

There is a likelihood of light snowfall at isolated spots in the high hills and Himalayan areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

Similarly, nighttime conditions are expected to feature clear weather in the hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali regions.

The division has urged people to undertake necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of snowfall in highlands and mountainous regions, as well as fog in the Terai region.

These weather conditions may have repercussions on daily life, health, transportation, and air traffic, it said.
