Constitution to be amended with political consensus: NC President Deuba

MORANG: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba stated that the constitution would be amended through consensus among political parties.

Speaking to the media at Biratnagar Airport today, he emphasized that discussions would be held with various parties to forge the necessary agreement, as a two-thirds majority is required for any constitutional amendment.

Deuba, also a former Prime Minister, clarified that no loan-related agreements have been signed under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent visit to China, expressing his appreciation for this.

He further asserted that the public harbors no grievances against the current coalition government.

According to Deuba, the alliance between the country’s two major parties has played a key role in maintaining political stability and advancing the nation toward prosperity.

Regarding the party’s internal affairs, Deuba confirmed that NC’s general convention will be held as scheduled, with a new leadership set to be elected.

The NC President arrived in Biratnagar to attend the party’s province-level conference tomorrow.
