Road accidents claim 24 lives in Bagmati Province during Dashain and Tihar

KATHMANDU: As many as 24 individuals lost their lives in road accidents during the festive season in Bagmati Province, excluding the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley.

From October 3 — the day of Ghatasthapana of Dashain festival, and the morning of November 5 — there were 230 road accidents reported in districts outside Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur.

According to Superintendent of Police Nareshraj Subedi from the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office in Ramnagar, 628 people sustained injuries in these incidents.

SP Subedi noted that the rise in road accidents is attributed to people’s tendency to take risks and the poor condition of the roads, emphasizing that ignorance of traffic rules among drivers and passengers often leads to such incidents.
