KATHMANDU: The Global IME Bank, IME Group and the associated companies have chipped in Rs 50 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
IME Group’s Executive Chairperson Chandra Prakash Dhakal handed over a cheque bearing the amount to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar on Sunday.
The business house provided the assistance for the relief to the people affected by the recent rain-triggered disasters in various districts across the country.
It is the highest amount donated to the Fund so far by any private organization for the cause, it was shared.
Meanwhile, Nepal Insurance also provided Rs 5 million, NMB Bank Rs 5.1 million and Metlife Insurance Rs 2.5 million to the Fund.
The last Monday’s meeting of the Council of Ministers had decided to initially deposit one billion rupees in the Fund. The Fund has received over Rs 100 million from private companies and social organizations as of now while donation continues to the Fund from organizations and individuals.
PM Oli, expressing gratitude to all the organizations, acknowledged that their assistance during the time of crisis was truly invaluable.
