Rhino attack claims life of nature guide, injures American tourist

BARDIYA: A nature guide was killed and two others, including an American tourist, were injured following an attack by a rhinoceros in the Dalla Community Forest, which is part of the buffer zone surrounding Bardiya National Park.

The incident occurred this morning while they were observing wildlife in Madhuban Municipality-1.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Man Mohan Chaudhary, a guide from Thakurbaba Municipality-9 in Bardiya district.

He was killed instantly, as confirmed by Min Thapa, Chairman of Madhuban Municipality, Ward No 1.

The injured individuals are 56-year-old American tourist MC Lyndon Shawn and 58-year-old forest security guard Khinchu Chaudhary.

The rhinoceros attacked the guide in the stomach and struck the tourist on the buttocks.

The American tourist is currently receiving treatment at Thakurbaba City Hospital in Bhurigaon.

Authorities have reported that the tourist’s condition is stable, while the forest guard’s condition is reported as normal.
