Nepal Telecommunication Authority lifts ban on TikTok

The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has officially directed all internet and mobile service providers to lift the ban on TikTok.

This decision follows a letter from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology requesting the ban’s removal.

In response, the Authority instructed service providers to refrain from obstructing TikTok’s operation.

With the ban now lifted, TikTok, which had been inaccessible for an extended period, is once again operational.

Teej celebrated today

Today, the festival of Haritalika (Teej), celebrated on Bhadra Shukla Tritiya, was observed with reverence as devotees worship Devadidev Mahadev.

Haritalika Teej, a grand festival for Nepalese Hindu women, sees an influx of worshippers at the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu from the early hours of the morning.

Women participate in this festival by fasting for the health and longevity of their husbands.

According to religious belief, fasting on Bhadra Shukla Tritiya and worshiping Shiva and Parvati is said to bring family happiness, peace, and well-being.

PM Oli leaving for New York on Sept. 20

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to embark on his first foreign trip of his third term, heading to the United States.

The Council of Ministers approved the visit on Thursday, authorizing Prime Minister Oli to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The cabinet meeting confirmed the itinerary for Prime Minister Oli’s trip, which includes participation in the UN General Assembly sessions.

Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to leave for New York on September 20 to deliver his address.

Gold price sets new record today

The price of gold in Nepal has reached an unprecedented high on the day of Haritalika Teej, a major festival for Nepali Hindu women.

Today, gold traded at its highest price ever, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Traders.

The price surged by 1,300 rupees to 153,300 rupees per tola, up from 152,000 rupees the previous day.

PM Oli loses 77,000 Facebook followers amid “unfollow” campaign; only 3,000 recovered

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli experienced a significant drop of 77,000 Facebook followers due to an ‘unfollow’ campaign launched by supporters of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah.

However, only around 3,000 of these followers have been regained.

The unfollow campaign began on Tuesday evening, following Mayor Shah’s removal of a post criticizing UML member Rekha Kumari Sharma on Sunday.

Maoist Centre Chair Dahal Honors Paris Paralympics Bronze Medalist Palesha

Chairman of Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ honored Palesha Govardhan, who won a bronze medal at the Paralympics 2024, in a ceremony held at Khumaltar today.

In addition to Palesha, Dahal also felicitated instructor Kabiraj Negi Lama, manager Ram Chandra Shrestha, and Palesha’s father, Pradip.

Speaking at the event, Dahal emphasized that Palesha’s achievement has made Nepalis around the world proud.

Rhino attack claims life of nature guide, injures American tourist

A nature guide was killed and two others, including an American tourist, were injured following an attack by a rhinoceros in the Dalla Community Forest, which is part of the buffer zone surrounding Bardiya National Park.

The incident occurred this morning while they were observing wildlife in Madhuban Municipality-1.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Man Mohan Chaudhary, a guide from Thakurbaba Municipality-9 in Bardiya district.
