PM Oli loses 77,000 Facebook followers amid “unfollow” campaign; only 3,000 recovered

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli experienced a significant drop of 77,000 Facebook followers due to an ‘unfollow’ campaign launched by supporters of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah.

However, only around 3,000 of these followers have been regained.

The unfollow campaign began on Tuesday evening, following Mayor Shah’s removal of a post criticizing UML member Rekha Kumari Sharma on Sunday.

As a result, Oli’s Facebook page saw a decrease in followers from 666,000 to 589,000 on Wednesday.

Since Thursday, the number of followers on Oli’s Facebook page has been slowly increasing.

As of Friday morning, the follower count has reached 592,000.
