Dengue claims one life; Cholera confirmed in 30 individuals



KATHMANDU: The incidence of vector-borne and waterborne diseases is rising across the country.

According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) under the Department of Health Services, one person has died from dengue.

Over the past seven and a half months, 2,365 individuals nationwide have been infected with dengue.

Dengue has spread to 73 districts. The distribution of cases includes 537 in Koshi Province, 46 in Madhes Province, 747 in Bagmati Province, 508 in Gandaki Province, 247 in Lumbini Province, 38 in Karnali Province, and 242 in Sudurpaschim Province.

Notably, 287 cases have been recorded in the Kathmandu Valley, with additional cases including 137 in Kaski, 133 in Jhapa, 116 in Chitwan, and 110 in Tanahu.

In addition, the number of cholera cases is also on the rise.

The EDCD has confirmed cholera in 30 individuals across the country, though there have been no reported fatalities from the disease as of yet.
