Monsoon-related disasters claim 154 lives in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Monsoon-related disasters have claimed the lives of 154 individuals so far this year.

The Nepal Police Headquarters stated that landslides, floods, and inundation resulted in fatalities across various regions: three in the Kathmandu Valley, 25 in Koshi, six in Madhes, 20 in Bagmati, 43 in Gandaki, 29 in Lumbini, eight in Karnali, and 10 in Sudurpaschim Province.

Additionally, 47 people remain missing and 186 have been injured.

The floods have caused damage to 384 houses, with 261 houses, 95 huts, 43 bridges, two school buildings, and two government offices also affected.

Since June 10, as many as 4,238 families have been displaced by monsoon-related disasters.
