Nationwide monsoon rainfall, public urged to take precautions



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast Division has reported that monsoon winds are currently impacting the entire country.

The division stated that the monsoon trough is positioned around its average location to the east and north of its average position to the west, resulting in heavy rainfall across many regions.

At present, the weather is mostly cloudy throughout Nepal.

Moderate rainfall is occurring in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and other provinces, with certain areas experiencing heavy rain.

The division predicts that the weather will remain mostly to fully cloudy across the country this afternoon.

Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected in many places across all provinces.

Some locations, particularly in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, may experience heavy to very heavy rain.

Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is also anticipated in parts of Koshi and Madhesh provinces and many areas of other provinces tonight.

There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in a few locations in Madhesh province.

The department has urged the public to take precautions to mitigate risks associated with heavy rainfall in various parts of the country.
