Parties’ failure to reach agreement on power sharing delays Singh’s claim to CM post of Madhesh Province

KATHMANDU: The failure of coalition parties to reach an agreement on power sharing in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly has delayed Janamat Party’s Satish Kumar Singh’s claim to the post of Chief Minister (CM) of Madhesh Province.

CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), and Janamat Party have agreed to form a coalition government in the province.

However, the parties have not reached a consensus on power sharing after CPN (Unified Socialist) demanded three ministerial portfolios.

The parties are currently preparing to stake a claim on the formation of a new government in the province.

Despite the delay, Janamat Party has picked its lawmaker Satish Kumar Singh to be appointed as the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province.
