JHAPA: Two people died in a road accident that took place in Mechinagar of Jhapa last night.

The accident reportedly took place when the scooter hit a stationary jeep on the Mechi Lokmarg in Dhaijan, Mechinagar Municipality-12.

The scooter (Me. 7 Pa. 7283) was going from Charali towards Budhabare when it hit the jeep (Ko 1 Ha. 7264) that had been stopped on the left side of the road for maintenance.

The deceased have been identified as the scooter rider 25-year-old Leela Prasad Dhungel of Buddhashanti-5, and pillion rider Chetan Rijal, 29, Rong Rural Municipality-5 of Ilam, according to District Police Office Jhapa spokesperson, DSP Krishna Kumar Chand.
