KATHMANDU: In a significant political development, the Madhesh Province is set to witness the formation of a new government under the leadership of the Janamat Party.

This coalition, comprising 56 members including CPN-UML, Janamat Party, Maoist Center, Unified Socialist Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, and other fringe parties, is poised to elevate Mahesh Kumar Yadav, the leader of the Janamat Parliamentary Party, to the position of Chief Minister.

Saroj Kumar Yadav has assumed the role of Acting Chief Minister following the failure to secure a vote of confidence in the state assembly on Wednesday.

Province Chief, Sumitra Subedi Bhandari, is now gearing up to facilitate the process of forming a new government.

Janamat Party MP Anita Kumari Sah confirmed that the coalition, along with one independent MP and a Sanghiya Samajwadi Party representative, is united in support, boasting signatures from 56 MPs.

“I will submit the claim on Thursday after the Province Chief has called for the formation of a new government,” Sah told Khabarhub.

The distribution of ministries is also under discussion, with plans to hold a vote of confidence on June 10.

According to Janamat leaders, agreements have been reached regarding the allocation of ministries.

The Maoist Center is poised to assume control of the Ministry of Economic Affairs following Mahesh Kumar Yadav’s ascent to the role of Chief Minister.

Other ministries are to be divided among the CPN-UML, Unified Socialist Party, and Nagarik Unmukti Party, ensuring a fair representation of the Janamat Party in the governance structure.
