KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) [CPN (UML)], KP Sharma Oli, emphasized the necessity for cohesion among leftist political factions in the nation.

During the launch of the ‘Barista Rajnitigya Siddinath Gyawali Ismriti Grantha’ (Senior Politician Siddinath Gyawali Memorial Book) at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, Chairperson Oli urged all leftist and communist parties to unite under the banner of CPN (UML).

Oli reiterated his commitment to leading a campaign for unity that transcends partisan interests, focusing instead on the collective welfare of the country.

“I envision CPN (UML) as a national force, pivotal to the nation’s progress,” Oli affirmed.

Furthermore, he pledged to steer his party forward based on clear ideological principles, organizational coherence, and informed policy decisions rather than emotional impulses.

Reflecting on recent electoral victories, Oli viewed them as a precursor to the forthcoming parliamentary elections in 2084 BS, expressing determination to realize the goals of the party’s ‘Mission 84’ campaign, aimed at securing a parliamentary majority.

In tribute to the late politician Siddinath Gyawali, Oli praised his integrity, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to driving positive change.

Despite past disagreements within the party, Oli reminisced fondly about his relationship with Gyawali, underscoring enduring mutual respect.

Meanwhile, Bam Dev Gautam, Chairperson of the CPN Unity National Campaign, disclosed his intentions to join CPN (UML) following a period of self-reflection, clarifying that he bore no responsibility for the previous split in the Communist Party of Nepal.

The event saw the presence of party Vice-Chairpersons Yuvraj Gyawali and Bishnu Prasad Poudel, along with other party leaders and cadres.
