Unity within the party a most to regain its strength: NC President Deuba
Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba said that unity among all party cadres was essential to strengthen the party. Inaugurating the party’s event organized by NC Kathmandu Constituency No. 2 committee on Saturday, he called upon everyone to move forward with mutual understanding and coordination to strengthen the party. He directed the leaders and cadres to prepare for the party to get a majority in the upcoming elections and work together towards that.
PM Dahal plans to visit South Korea soon
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has disclosed his intention to visit South Korea in the near future. Sending off a joint expedition comprising three Nepali climbers and seven Korean mountaineers, set to summit Mt Jugal in honor of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and South Korea, PM Dahal unveiled his upcoming plan. “I have received an invitation to visit the Republic of Korea (RoK), and I will be heading there soon,” he announced.
Federalism became possible due to Madhes movement: Chief Minister Yadav
The Chief Minister of Province 2, Saroj Kumar Yadav, has stated that Province 2 has played the most significant role in bringing federalism to the country. Addressing the “Voice of Birgunj” program on Saturday, he mentioned that federalism has been implemented in the country due to the Madhes movement. “It has been seven years since federalism was introduced in the country, but the provinces still do not feel federalism,” he said. “Even after the change in governments, there are problems in overall development in the province. While Birgunj city is providing a significant amount of revenue to the federal government, the federal government has not allocated the same budget and facilities to Birgunj.”
Clash between Rajendra Mahato supporters and police, 5 injured
A clash has erupted between activists supporting the Rastriya Mukti Andolan led by Rajendra Mahato and the police in Kathmandu. Following the announcement of a special program by the Rastriya Mukti Andolan, a demonstration led by Mahato was organized in the Bhadrakali area. During the event, when it was announced that the rally would proceed to the prohibited area near Singha Durbar, the police attempted to stop it. Subsequently, a clash ensued.
Locals halt waste disposal at Bancharedanda landfill site, demand action on agreements
The residents of Nuwakot and Dhading have taken a stand against the disposal of waste from the Kathmandu Valley at the landfill site in Bancharedanda, citing the failure to implement previous agreements. The Bancharedanda Landfill Site-affected Area Concern Committee (Nuwakot-Dhading) has initiated an obstruction to waste disposal, calling for the fulfillment of past agreements and the designation of the landfill site area as a ‘Human Settlement-free Landfill Site Development Area’.
