NC President Deuba extends olive branch to Madhav Nepal, offers support for Prime Ministerial role

KATHMANDU: In the midst of the escalating political drama, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba reached out to Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, expressing his willingness to collaborate.

During a visit to Madhav Nepal’s residence in Koteswo on Wedneday morning, Deuba conveyed his readiness to endorse Madhav Nepal as the Prime Minister, urging him to join his coalition.

This proposition arose in the aftermath of perceived betrayals by Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, prompting Deuba to seek a united front.

Sources close to Deuba reveal that he urged Madhav to align with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) as well, stating, ” Given Prachanda’s repeated betrayals, it’s time to unite.”

In response, Madhav Nepal said he would convene a party Secretariat meeting to deliberate on the course of action, according to insider information.

Deuba’s strategic move is predicated on the belief that a coalition involving the Congress, Unified Socialist, RSP, and fringe parties could yield a decisive majority.

During a lengthy one-and-a-half-hour discussion at Nepal’s residence, the trio explored potential collaboration scenarios.
