NC’s Shekhar Koirala faction demands four seats in NA elections

KATHMANDU: In the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for January 25, the Shekhar Koirala faction of the Nepali Congress has staked its claim on four seats amid intense discussions and negotiations between the ruling parties over seat allocation.

Dr. Koirala put his demands before party President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

While there is a possibility of the NC securing 8 to 9 seats in the National Assembly, Koirala’s faction has demanded four seats, according to sources close to him.

“Our faction has repeatedly urged leadership for the allocation of four seats in the National Assembly, and President Deuba has also agreed to discuss this matter after meeting with him,” a leader close to Dr. Koirala said.

According to leaders, discussions between Deuba and Koirala have been finalized for Sunday.
