Prohibitory order enforced in Sarlahi following protest-related fatality

KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office of Sarlahi has implemented a prohibitory order in Barahathawa Municipality, effective from 8 AM this morning until 8 AM Saturday.

This decision was made in response to the tragic death of a youth, Jay Shankar Shah, in Barathathawa-6 during a protest. The locals had organized the demonstration to demand improvements in the services and infrastructure of the Primary Health Center.

To prevent the protest from escalating further, the District Administration Office had initially imposed a curfew from 5 PM Friday to 8 AM Saturday.

Subsequently, with the lifting of the curfew, the administration has enforced prohibitory orders in specific areas, including Bhramastan, Hajariya, Hanuman Temple, and Soti Bridge, as outlined by Chief District Officer Komal Prasad Dhamala.

The prohibitory order entails restrictions on public gatherings, movements, and political activities within the designated areas.
