State should ensure life-long social security to workers: Labour Minister Bhandari



PATAN (LALITPUR): Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Affairs, Sarat Singh Bhandari, has laid emphasis that the state should ensure life-long social security for every working citizen.

At a programme organized by Nepal Trade Union Congress in Lalitpur today, Minister Bhandari shared that all problems related to labour would be resolved at coordination and collaboration of the bodies concerned, adding the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Affairs is the ministry of workers.

“There is necessary of amendment to labour act. The government alone cannot do it and participation of stakeholders is must. Citizens cannot feel safe until the state guarantee life-long social security”, he mentioned.
The Labour Minister stated, “There is important role of trade unions to make ministries working for the welfare of the workers.”

Similarly, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Japanese Embassy in Nepal, Takahiro Tamuro, expressed the belief that this seminar would helpful to share knowledge and experiences about working environment and healthy industrial relation.

Likewise, Executive Director of Japan International Labour Foundation (JILAF), Toshiro Motobhayashi said the JILAF has been organizing various labour-related prgrammes in different countries since its establishment in 1989.

He further said the programme was organized with an objective of establishing constructive industrial relation coordinating between workers and employers.
