KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that no loan agreement has been made with northern neighbor China.

Speaking to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from a four-day visit to China, Oli clarified the matter.

“I had already mentioned during a public gathering in Durbar Marg that we are not taking loans from anywhere at the moment. I also said we are not seeking loans from China,” he said. “There has been no discussion or agreement regarding loans with China.”

He added that discussions on implementing nine projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) would take place separately in the future.

“Every project under the BRI will be discussed separately between the two countries during implementation,” Oli said. “What we have obtained so far is not a loan. There have been no talks regarding loans. Why is there a constant fuss about loans? The BRI is not concerned with loans.”
