Heavy rain expected in three provinces



KATHMANDU: The monsoon wind is currently affecting the country, with the monsoon trough positioned to the west and extending south and east of its normal location, according to the Weather Forecast Division.

According to the Division, the skies are partly to mostly cloudy across the country today.

Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is occurring in some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, with isolated occurrences in other provinces.

The Division has forecasted a possibility of heavy rain in one or two locations within Koshi, Madhesh, and Gandaki provinces.

On Thursday afternoon, the weather is expected to be partly to mostly cloudy nationwide, with light to moderate rain likely in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and isolated areas in the remaining provinces.

Heavy rain is also possible in one or two places in the Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

Over the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is anticipated across all provinces, with heavy rain possible in one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, and Gandaki provinces.

The Division has advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate risks associated with flash floods, floods, landslides, and soil erosion in areas experiencing heavy rainfall.

There could also be partial impacts on daily life, including agriculture, health, tourism, mountain climbing, road, and air transport, it stated.
