Newly appointed CM of Sudurpaschim Province sworn in
The newly appointed Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Kamal Bahadur Shah, has taken the oath of office and secrecy.
Province Chief Minister Najir Miya administered the oath to Chief Minister Shah.
Shah, who is the leader of the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party, was appointed Chief Minister on Sunday with the support of CPN-UML, as stipulated in Article 168 of the Constitution.
PM Oli reaffirms commitment to address challenges on Kathmandu-Tarai Expressway
Prime Minister KP Oli has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges facing the Kathmandu-Tarai Expressway.
Speaking at the breakthrough ceremony for the Dhedre tunnel under the Kathmandu-Tarai Expressway on Monday, PM Oli urged relevant agencies to expedite their efforts.
“The government is dedicated to resolving the obstacles on this Expressway,” PM Oli stated.
Prime Minister Oli also highlighted that the issues surrounding Khokana land extend beyond politics.
“We recognize that Khokana land involves more than just political factors,” he noted.
Gold price sets new record in domestic market
Gold prices have once again surged to a new record high, with fine gold reaching an unprecedented Rs 150,000 per tola on Monday.
The surge of Rs 300 per tola adds to the already record-breaking spike witnessed in recent weeks.
According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold is priced at Rs 150,000 per tola.
Q4 FY 2080/81 Financial Report: Nabil Bank leads with Rs 7.06 billion profit
In the unaudited financial statements for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2080/81, twenty commercial banks collectively achieved a net profit of Rs 64.15 billion.
Nabil Bank led the profit rankings with a notable net profit of Rs 7.06 billion, reflecting a 10.23% increase from the same period last fiscal year.
Global IME Bank came in second with a profit of Rs 6.01 billion, while Nepal Investment Mega Bank secured the third position with Rs 5.19 billion.
Machhapuchhre Bank recorded the lowest net profit of Rs 1.25 billion for the fiscal year.
Nepali students are safe in Bangladesh: Embassy
Most Nepali students affected by the ongoing student movement in Bangladesh have returned home, according to the Nepali Embassy in Dhaka.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Embassy confirmed that as many as 400 Nepali students currently in Bangladesh are safe.
“Most of the Nepali students studying in Bangladesh have returned to Nepal. All Nepalis, including the remaining 400 students, are safe, and the Embassy is in constant contact with them,” the statement read.
Maoist lawmaler Sapkota accuses govt of attempting to establish autocracy
Maoist Center lawmaker Madhav Sapkota has expressed concerns that the government may be attempting to establish an ‘autocracy’ in the country.
He voiced these suspicions during today’s meeting of the House of Representatives.
Sapkota criticized the recent dismissal of two members from the Board of Directors of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), stating, “Looking at the recent developments, including the dismissal of Kapil Acharya and Bhakta Bahadur from NEA, it appears that rules have been violated.”
RSP lawmaker Gautam alleges harassment and misconduct by cadres of another party
Sobita Gautam, a Member of Parliament from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has alleged that she was verbally abused when she visited Kageshwari Manahara Municipality-6 in Kathmandu on Sunday evening.
Gautam, who was there to assess the damage caused by recent floods and landslides, claimed she was mistreated during her visit.
According to her statement in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, local residents guided her to the site of the landslide.
However, a group of young people in the village surrounded her and began to abuse her.
PM Oli inspects Kathmandu-Terai-Madhes Expressway construction
Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli inspected the Kathmandu-Terai-Madhes Expressway (Fast Track) road project today.
Additionally, he witnessed the breakthrough of a 1.728-meter-long tunnel in Dhetre.
Joining Prime Minister Oli on this inspection were Defense Minister Manbir Rai, Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma, and other officials.
