IN PICS: Oath-taking ceremony of CPN (Unified Socialist)

The party swore in three office bearers and 93 central committee members on Friday

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Unified Socialist) swore in three office bearers and 93 central committee members on Friday during its 10th National Convention in Kathmandu.

The party elected Madhav Kumar Nepal as Chairman, Ghanshyam Bhusal as General Secretary, and Jhalanath Khanal as the senior and dignified leader of the party.

Additionally, 93 central committee members were elected.

However, the party statute allows for the election of 21 office bearers and 299 central committee members.

The 10th convention has proposed extending the number of office bearers to 29 and the central committee to 399.

Due to a lack of agreement among party leaders, 18 office bearers have yet to be elected.

The newly elected central committee is scheduled to meet on Saturday to finalize the remaining positions.
