KATHMANDU: Home Secretary Eaknarayan Aryal has instructed chief district officers (CDOs) across the country to prioritize disaster response through coordinated efforts.

In a virtual address on Thursday, Aryal directed CDOs from all 77 districts, as well as coordinators and members of command posts, to collaborate with local levels to manage potential disaster-related incidents during the monsoon season.

He emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness and response plans, urging officials to work closely with provincial governments, the private sector, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders.

Aryal also stressed the need for mobilizing adequate human resources and equipment along major highways.

He instructed key officials to remain at their duty stations during disasters and called for enhancing the effectiveness of the weather forecasting agency.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of prompt availability of resources, including helicopters, for immediate rescue and relief operations.
