NC and LSP to back Madhes Chief Minister Saroj Yadav in vote of confidence



JANAKPURDHAM: The Nepali Congress (NC) and the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) have decided to support Madhes Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav in the vote of confidence scheduled for Wednesday.

NC Chief Whip Kumarkant Jha informed that the parliamentary party meeting decided to give a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Yadav.

Similarly, LSP lawmaker Upendra Mahato confirmed that the LSP parliamentary party also decided to support Minister Yadav in today’s vote of confidence proposal.

Chief Minister Yadav, who hails from the Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), will be seeking a vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly today.

In the Madhes Provincial Assembly, NC has 22 seats, JSP has 19 seats, and LSP has 8 seats, totaling 49 seats.

The Chief Minister needs the support of 54 lawmakers to secure the vote of confidence.
