Japanese Foreign Minister assures support for Nepal’s economic development



KATHMANDU: Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa met with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday during her one-day visit to Kathmandu.

Minister Kamikawa’s visit, in response to an invitation from Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha, underscored Japan’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s economic development.

The meeting, held at Singh Durbar, focused on mutual interests, economic collaborations, and strengthening bilateral ties.

Dr. Rupak Sapkota, foreign advisor to PM Dahal, highlighted the Japanese government’s support for Nepal’s socio-economic and infrastructural development.

In turn, PM Dahal expressed gratitude for Japan’s assistance.

Minister Kamikawa emphasized the enduring relationship between Nepal and Japan, reaffirming Japan’s commitment to assisting Nepal in achieving its economic development goals.

Minister Kamikawa also visited Basantapur Durbar Square during her visit, marking her first trip to Nepal since assuming office as Japan’s Foreign Minister.

Her visit underscores the importance of Nepal-Japan relations, with Minister Kamikawa being the fourth foreign minister to visit Nepal since the establishment of diplomatic ties.
