PM Dahal affirms govt’s commitment to promoting public health



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing citizens’ health, emphasizing its sensitivity towards the well-being of the populace.

Addressing a program commemorating the 22nd Establishment Day of the National Academy of Health Sciences (NAMS) in Kathmandu today, the Prime Minister underscored the government’s dedication to upholding citizens’ fundamental rights.

“The implementation of fundamental rights is a paramount concern for the government, reflecting our deep respect for the struggles and sacrifices made to achieve them,” stated Prime Minister Dahal.

He highlighted the government’s focus on social security programs within healthcare services as a top priority, including the allocation of 2,800 beds in government-run health facilities for patients from impoverished and vulnerable communities.

Moreover, the Prime Minister announced provisions for free vaccines against uterine and breast cancers, demonstrating the government’s proactive approach to addressing critical health needs.

He emphasized the significance of dedicating 10 percent of all hospital beds, regardless of ownership, to indigent and helpless individuals, emphasizing the importance of improving citizens’ rights.

Prime Minister Dahal called upon NAMS to play a pivotal role in enhancing citizens’ access to quality healthcare services, pledging full support to elevate NAMS to international academic standards through collaboration with national and foreign academic institutions.

He highlighted his efforts to enhance service delivery at Bir Hospital since assuming office, prioritizing the operationalization of all beds and operation rooms, and expanding services to two shifts.
