NC withdraws support given to PM Dahal, govt to seek vote of confidence within 30 days

The Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting, held at party President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence, has resolved to retract the support previously provided to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. According to NC Joint General Secretary Badri Pandey, the decision to withdraw support from Prime Minister Dahal’s government was taken during the meeting, which commenced an hour later than the scheduled time. With this move, the Prime Minister is mandated to seek a vote of confidence within the next 30 days.

Lumbini Summit postponed

The ‘Laureates and Leaders’ Summit scheduled to be organized by Lumbini province government has been postponed. Lumbini province government was set to organise the Summit in Lumbini from March 11. A cabinet meeting of Lumbini province government held today decided to call off the two-day Summit, citing special reason, said Spokesperson of Lumbini province government, Santosh Kumar Pandey.

Seat allocation in cabinet unlikely to conclude today

There is no immediate sign of the new ruling coalition splitting today, as leaders from various parties suggest that the discussion on dividing the responsibilities might take some more time. Although the official meeting of the CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has been underway, leaders from the coalition have mentioned that the possibility of sharing the cabinet responsibilities is unlikely today.

Mahesh Bartaula named chief whip, Sunita Baral appointed whip of CPN-UML

Mahesh Bartaula has been appointed as the chief whip of the CPN-UML party. Bartaula assumes the role following the appointment of Padam Giri as a minister, a move prompted by the formation of a new coalition government with CPN-Maoist Center. In addition, lawmaker Sunita Baral has been designated as the whip of the party.

Nepal fails to secure title in T20 I Tri-Series final

Nepal fell short in clinching the title of the T20 International Tri-Series held in domestic grounds. In the final match at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, Nepal faced defeat against the Netherlands by four wickets. The Netherlands successfully chased the target of 185 runs, reaching the goal with three balls to spare. Michael Leusden of the Netherlands played a pivotal role, scoring a half-century.

Sudurpaschim Province CM Shah suspends three Maoist Center ministers

In response to the recent shift in political dynamics at the central level, Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has suspended three ministers belonging to the CPN-Maoist Center. The suspended ministers are Tourism Minister Ramesh Dhami, Minister for Social Development Jhapat Saund, and State Minister Gita Devi Mal. CM Shah’s decision comes in the wake of CPN (Maoist Center) terminating its coalition with Nepali Congress and forging an alliance with CPN-UML, JSP, and RSP.

RSP vying for four ministries, including Home Ministry

As the newly formed government gears up to constitute a new Cabinet, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), a member of the coalition, has expressed interest in securing four ministries, with particular focus on the Ministry of Home Affairs. The CPN (Maoist Center) recently joined forces with CPN-UML, RSP, JSP, and Janamat Party, effectively breaking away from the alliance led by the Nepali Congress.

NEPSE experiences significant drop of over 70 points on Tuesday

The share market, which had been closed three times in a positive circuit until yesterday, witnessed a significant drop today with a decline of more than 70 points. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 70.31 points to 2007.69 points, a decrease of 2.91%. Today, mutual fund, along with all other sectors, faced a decline.

Small parties demand CM positions for support in PM Dahal’s new government formation
