KATHMANDU: There is no immediate sign of the new ruling coalition splitting today, as leaders from various parties suggest that the discussion on dividing the responsibilities might take some more time.

Although the official meeting of the CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has been underway, leaders from the coalition have mentioned that the possibility of sharing the cabinet responsibilities is unlikely today.

“Decisions on seat sharing in the cabinet may not come today, but discussions are progressing,” Maoist Center Secretary Dev Gurung said.

Similarly, UML Vice-Chairman Ishwar Pokharel also downplayed the possibility of an immediate division of responsibilities today.

“The team has been studying about the situation and the impacts of coalition at the central level, decisions on seat sharing might take some more time,” he added.

According to JSP spokesperson Manish Suman, considering the power dynamics at the provincial and central levels, a careful and time-consuming discussion is necessary.

The leaders’ statements suggest that the process of allocating responsibilities among the coalition partners may take some more time as discussions continue.
