Unified Socialist Party open to joining govt, awaits formal proposal: Jhalanath Khanal



KATHMANDU: Senior leader of CPN-Unified Socialist, Jhalanath Khanal, has disclosed that his party is considering participation in the new coalition government, provided a formal approach is made.

Speaking about the formation of the new coalition government involving major communist parties, Former Prime Minister Khanal welcomed the development and expressed the possibility of his party joining the government.

He emphasized that any participation should be built on mutual respect and honorable terms with his party.

The Unified Socialist Party has convened a secretariat meeting at the party’s headquarters on Wednesday morning.

Khanal mentioned that the meeting would involve a comprehensive discussion to analyze the current political situation in the country.

Khanal clarified that his party was not hesitant about the proposal but insisted that they would not compromise on their principles.

He further asserted that the party’s primary focus is on advancing leftist unity, and they will intensify efforts to promote the agenda of the Progressive Left Alliance.

Regarding recent political developments, Khanal expressed optimism that the ongoing issues in the country could be resolved through collective efforts.
