CIAA files  corruption case against project chief  in Rajbiraj



KATHMANDU: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed corruption charges against former Senior Divisional Engineer (SDE) Sachindra Kumar Dev, along with three others.

CIAA registered corruption charges against SDE Sachindra, former Engineer Madan Rai, and Assistant Engineer Saroj Kumar Yadav, who were associated with the substandard road construction in various places of Rajbiraj.

The CIAA has demanded a payment of Rs 347,000 from the accused engineers.

In a separate case, Gunja Construction’s proprietor, Govinda Prasad Mandal, is also facing charges for claiming completion of the project by falsifying documents.

Mandal is accused of fraudulent practices, leading to an increased evaluation amount of more than Rs 334,000.

The CIAA is seeking equivalent penalties, fines, and imprisonment against him.

CIAA spokesperson Narhari Ghimire confirmed the registration of corruption charges and mentioned that the case will be handled by Special Court in Kathmandu.
