Nepal fails to secure title in T20 I Tri-Series final

KATHMANDU: Nepal fell short in clinching the title of the T20 International Tri-Series held in domestic grounds.

In the final match at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, Nepal faced defeat against the Netherlands by four wickets.

The Netherlands successfully chased the target of 185 runs, reaching the goal with three balls to spare.

Michael Leusden of the Netherlands played a pivotal role, scoring a half-century.

He contributed 54 runs with six fours and three sixes in just 29 balls.

Sabbrand Engelbrect, with a valuable half-century, added 48 runs in 29 balls.

Max O’Dowd was dismissed for a personal score of 23 runs.

Despite Kushal Malla taking four wickets for Nepal, they couldn’t secure a victory.

Opting to bat after winning the toss at TU Cricket Ground, Nepal set a target of 184 runs, losing eight wickets in 20 overs.

While the top order of Nepal displayed good performances, they faced a challenge against Netherlands’ bowlers.

Kushal Bhurtel, opening with 23 runs, and Captain Rohit Paudel, scoring 25 runs in 19 balls, contributed to a partnership of 59 runs for the third wicket.

However, after their dismissals, Gulsan Jha scored 26 runs in 11 balls with three sixes.

Dipendra Singh Airee only managed to score 1 run, and Karn KC added 9 runs.

Aarif Sheikh could not open his run account.

In the end, Nepal set a competitive score, but their bowlers couldn’t defend it successfully, leading to the Netherlands claiming the T20 International Tri-Series title.
