Janamorcha criticizes new coalition, warns of threat to democratic achievements

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Janamorcha Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC, has voiced strong opposition to the newly formed four-party alliance, including the CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Center.

He believes that this coalition poses a threat to the democratic achievements of past people’s movements.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, Janamorcha Chair KC expressed serious concern about the dissolution of the coalition that was originally formed against regressive and unconstitutional forces.

“The dissolution of the coalition formed against regressive and anti-constitutional forces is a matter of serious concern for our party. Our party vehemently opposes and criticizes the rapid formation of the new coalition, dissolving the one formed to safeguard the achievements of the past movements,” he stated.

KC emphasized the crucial role played by the previous Nepali Congress-Maoist Center coalition in countering government defections, especially during the struggle against defections.

He underscored that Janamorcha will closely scrutinize the policies and programs of the current government based on its defined policies.

The earlier coalition had assured Janamorcha a seat in the National Assembly, with Durga Paudel selected as the nominee. However, the dissolution of the NC-Maoist coalition has raised uncertainties about Janamorcha’s representation in the National Assembly.

The dissolution of the old coalition has now put the agreement with Janamorcha at risk, jeopardizing its representation in the National Assembly.
