KATHMANDU: The leaders of a newly formed alliance comprising four political parties have asserted that their coalition aims to promote good governance and ensure efficient service delivery.
Following the signing of an eight-point agreement at Baluwatar on Monday evening, Barsha Man Pun, Deputy General Secretary of CPN (Moist Centre), emphasized that the alliance was established in response to national imperatives and the desires of the people.
According to Pun, the agreement reflects the shared commitment of the parties to advancing good governance, social justice, and prosperity in the country.
Shankar Pokhrel, General Secretary of CPN UML, stated that a common minimum program would be developed prior to finalizing the Cabinet’s composition.
He assured that the allocation of ministerial portfolios would be conducted through discussions with other political entities, downplaying its complexity.
Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Vice Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), highlighted his party’s objectives of promoting economic discipline, ensuring accountability, and enhancing service delivery efficiency within the government.
He underscored the urgency of addressing public disillusionment stemming from economic challenges and governance deficiencies, expressing confidence in the Prime Minister’s commitment to addressing these issues.
Wagle clarified that RSP’s participation in the government was contingent upon the fulfillment of certain conditions and the advancement of specific agendas.
He emphasized that the party would continue to support the government as long as it delivers on its promises, but would not hesitate to withdraw if expectations were not met.
Rajendra Shrestha, a leader of the Janata Samajbadi Party, articulated his party’s decision to join the government as a means of guiding the country in accordance with the spirit of the constitution.
He elaborated on the objectives outlined in the eight-point agreement, which seek to strengthen federalism, promote good governance, uphold social justice, and lay the groundwork for a socialist-oriented system.
