KATHMANDU: The main opposition party CPN-UML has decided to add six leaders to its central committee.

This decision was reached during the party’s Secretariat meeting held at the central office in Chyasal on Friday.

General Secretary Shankar Pokharel announced that Tulsiram Neupane, Keshav Pande, Damodar Bhandari, Ramavatar Yadav, Binod Shah, and Deepak Karki have been inducted into the central committee.

Among the new members, Neupane represents the Koshi Province, Pande the Bagmati Province, Bhandari the Sudur Paschim Province, Shah the Karnali Province, and Yadav the Madhes Province. Karki is appointed as the party’s Jhapa chairman.

Furthermore, UML expressed its condolences over an unfortunate incident resulting in the death of an individual in Sarlahi on Friday.

In an incident linked to the Municipality Hospital’s operation in Barahathawa Municipality, 27-year-old Jayashankar Sah lost his life during the clash. UML alleged that the ruling party, responsible for maintaining peace and security, had instigated the situation. “The government failed to ensure people’s safety; we express our condolences for the incident,” added Pokharel.
