Former queen mother Ratna admitted to hospital



KATHMANDU: Former queen mother Ratna Rajya Laxmi Shah has been admitted to the hospital.

The 97-year-old Shah was taken to Norvic Hospital in Thapathali on Sunday evening due to health issues.

Doctors report that she is suffering from a chest infection; however, there are no serious complications.

Ratna is the widow of former King Mahendra Shah. Even after King Gyanendra’s departure from Narayanhiti Palace, Ratna continues to reside in Mahendra Manjil at Narayanhiti.
